Missippi silicon manufacturing process. LOL if one thinks we will ever get the energy back from production of silicon (solar panels). 99% of of panels are sourced from China who are by far the largest consumer of fossil fuels on our planet. Virtue signaling all the way to trillions in debt?

Great article. A few comments, almost all solar farm projects use helical pile (think ground screw) which can very easily be backed out of the soil leaving no legacy. The soil actually has more subsoil flora similar to prairie grass ecosystems following years of no tilling and artificial fertilizing. 90% of all electrical conductors (wiring) is within the racks thus fully recoverable.

Many municipalities require a bond guaranteeing future funds to restore the land to its original state. I agree that most solar farms can be recommissioned but it’s great to have an effective removal option.

This article comes at the perfect time, thank you for brilliantly illuminating this critical, often-overlooked aspect of renewable energy infrastructure.

You can just feel it. After decommissioning, they will be environmental wastelands. Forever destroyed.
